The Most Common Reason Wall Installations Fail
Using the wrong anchor for the wall type and load. Drywall alone holds almost nothing — the anchor or fastener must reach either a stud or use a rated wall anchor designed for the actual weight being hung.
Floating Shelves
The bracket must be level, hit studs or use appropriate anchors, and be positioned so the shelf sits flush against the wall. Shelves intended to hold books, plants, or kitchen items need to be anchored into studs — wall anchors alone aren't sufficient for ongoing load.
Mirrors
Large mirrors are heavy and awkward. A 4x6 mirror can weigh 50–80 pounds. This requires stud locations, appropriate hardware, and correct hanging technique.
Gallery Walls
Layout on paper or on the floor first. Determine the overall arrangement, spacing, and center point. Then transfer measurements to the wall. Rushing this leads to unnecessary holes.
In Florida Specifically
Florida's concrete block and stucco construction means many walls are masonry. Masonry anchors and a hammer drill are required. The process is slower but produces a very secure installation.
